Academic Plus Programs

Rising Stars provides every member of its teams with academic support in a number of key areas. We work with our partner schools (Chaminade,Holy Trinity, Holy Cross, Long Island Lutheran and others as well as Student Sponsors (please provide link) to identify qualify and assist those at risk students that qualify for and are in need of private education.

Rising Stars coaches are responsible for mentoring and tracking the academic performance of the students under their care and on their teams. Report cards are monitored quarterly. Students in need of tutorial assistance are referred to the executive director and receive academic support. Our peer counseling program assists with tutoring and homework help and we assist every senior with SAT PREP and individual assistance in helping them take the test.

Tutorial Assistance

Students in need of tutoring services are provided with a peer tutor or one of our certified teachers for academic assistance. Parental and involvement is required. Tutorial time is based upon the student's need and schedule.

College Guidance

Junior and Senior students in the rising stars program are offered seminars and, in most cases, one-on-one college guidance sessions with the executive director and or the the director of educational program to assist in finalizing their post secondary plans. We provide students with transcript analysis, appropriate collegiate selection, completion of applications, scheduling of college visitations, letters of recommendations and use our resource base to help students get accepted to the college/university of their choice or at a college/university at which they will experience success. Eligible students may apply for our need-based financial assistance scholarship in order to offset the high cost of attending post secondary schools.

Student Sponsors Partners

Rising Stars has developed a great relationship with student sponsor partners who addresses the high school dropout crisis in New York city by providing under-served students with four years of college-preparatory education. All ssp students are paired with sponsors who offer financial support and mentors who offer one-to-one mentoring, thus making a meaningful impact on their lives.

LuHi - Our Home

Long Island Lutheran middle & high school is the home of rising stars and is located at 131 Brookville Road, Brookville, and New York 11545. Located on a beautifully wooded 32-acre estate in Brrokville, Long Island Lutheran middle & high school has been serving the educational needs of the community since 1960. Our coeducational college preparatory program is accredited by the middle states association of colleges and schools and is a member of the New York state association of independent schools
